Sarracenia leaucophylla, also known as the White-Topped Pitcher Plant, develops incredibly distinct red and white pitchers. This species is well known for the white areoles (windows) that covered the upper portions of the pitchers. These windows do an exceptional job at attracting flying insects. S. leaucophylla is favored in collections as it produces its largest and most vigorous pitchers during the fall season while other species tend to dwindle during this period. Showy red flowers with a pleasant scent are produced from April to May. The unique white accents and fall growth spurt make S. leaucophylla a popular species amongst growers.
