Packing

Start of the week shipping

One shipping day a week means nothing sits in a depot over a weekend. Order by Friday night for a guaranteed spot in Monday's batch; weekend orders usually make it too. Plants travel in damp paper towel, bagged for humidity, Canada-wide.

Winter

Cold months, handled

From October through April, every box ships insulated as standard, with a 72-hour heat pack available to add at checkout. If the forecast turns against us, we hold your order rather than risk the cold. The live arrival guarantee covers a plant that arrives dead — a tired leaf or two after transit is normal.

What growers say

Hundreds of 5-star reviews across Etsy, eBay and Facebook · over 5,000 orders shipped since 2022
Leon was really quick to reply to my questions. The plants took 3 days to arrive to the other end of Canada and were very well protected in a sturdy box with extra cushioning. The paper towels were still slightly damp and plants seemed in great shape. Very happy with my purchase. Thank you!

I bought several pings and moss and I am very happy with my purchase. Plants are happy and I'm glad to add this to my collection. Been about 10 days and already have new growth!

I received my Pinguicula the day after it was shipped. It was packaged well and arrived in perfect condition. The ping is healthy and has already grown two new leaves under my care. The seller also took the time to answer all the questions I had about Pinguiculas and their care :)

Before you buy

Common questions

If yours isn't here, ask the growers.

Will my plant look exactly like the photo?

Not exactly. Plants change with the season, growing conditions and age, so the photo is a representative example rather than a guarantee. We send healthy plants of the same species and a comparable size and maturity.

Do you ship across all of Canada?

Yes — we ship to every province and territory. Orders leave the nursery each Monday. We currently ship within Canada only, so there are no international customs or import requirements.

Is it safe to order in winter?

Yes. We offer 72-hour heat packs and add extra insulation during cold-weather shipping. If conditions are too extreme for safe transit, we'll hold the order and contact you before shipping. Orders shipped in freezing weather without a heat pack aren't covered by our Live Arrival Guarantee.

What if my plant arrives dead?

Contact us within 24 hours with clear photos and we'll make it right. Depending on the situation, we'll provide a replacement or store credit under our Live Arrival Guarantee.

What water do carnivorous plants need?

Rainwater, distilled water or reverse-osmosis water are the safest choices. Tap water varies by municipality, so check its TDS before using it regularly. Our Carnivorous Plant Water Guide explains exactly what to look for.

I've never grown one — which should I buy first?

Butterworts and some Nepenthes are great places to start. Both can do well in bright indoor conditions and are good choices for first-time growers. Browse our beginner-friendly plants to see our recommendations.

Do these need to go outside, or can they live indoors?

It depends on the species. Venus flytraps and Sarracenia need strong outdoor light and a cool winter dormancy, while tropical species are grown indoors and can spend summer outside before the first frost. Each product page lists the growing conditions that plant needs.

Will it get rid of my fruit flies or fungus gnats?

Carnivorous plants can help reduce small flying insects, but they won't eliminate an infestation on their own. Pinguicula are particularly useful for catching fungus gnats and fruit-fly-sized insects indoors. For the best results, also address whatever is attracting or breeding the insects.

The traps or leaves are turning black — have I killed it?

Usually not. Older leaves and traps naturally die as new growth replaces them, and some plants also lose growth while adjusting to a new environment or entering dormancy. If you're concerned, send us a few clear photos and we'll take a look.
