Drosera capensis ‘Dark Maroon’, commonly known as the Cape Sundew, is native to the Cape region of South Africa. This species is among the easiest carnivorous plants to grow, adapting well to a wide range of conditions — making it an excellent choice for beginners.
Its leaves are covered in glistening dew that mimics nectar to attract unsuspecting insects. Once trapped, the leaf slowly curls around its prey to digest it. ‘Dark Maroon’ develops striking dark red to maroon foliage under bright light, giving it a dramatic appearance that makes it a favourite among collectors. Cape Sundews readily produce offshoots and abundant seeds, ensuring a steady supply of new plants.
