This cultivar is also commonly named "Akai Ryu" meaning "Red Dragon" in Japanese. It is one of the original flytrap cultivars introduced in 1997 by the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. It is famed for its incredible maroon to burgundy coloration that extends throughout the entire plant. This coloration persists throughout the year and looks amazing when potted with contrasting green plants.
